This season, however, she reveals a new dimension of her creativity with an excerpt from her Fragments project—two thoughtfully conceived multimedia cycles that weave together Bach’s legendary cello suites with newly commissioned works by contemporary composers, written specifically for her.

In the project FRAGMENTS by cellist Alisa Weilerstein, works by contemporary composers intertwine with Bach’s Cello Suites. From these suites, Alisa has created a six-part cycle that views Bach’s music in new contexts and transformations. From the cycle, we will present the first two suites.
Each FRAGMENTS evening has its own distinctive identity, enhanced by original lighting design, stage architecture, and costumes created by a leading international creative team.
There is a one-hour intermission between FRAGMENTS 1 and 2, during which the stage and other elements will be transformed for the second half of the programme. For the audience, we have prepared a rich intermission programme, including refreshments as well as guided tours of the premises and the exhibition.
