Pierre-Laurent Aimard, one of today's most important pianists, will grace the Rudolfinum with his brilliant playing and a unique recital. He will perform Ravel's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G Major, inspired by jazz and Basque folk music. Ravel's models for his composition also included the composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Camille Saint-Saëns.

The Czech Radio Children's Choir will sing Our Garden, Op. 3, a cantata for choir and orchestra by Arvo Pärt, one of his early works, under the baton of choirmaster Věra Hrdinková. We will experience with them the joyful childlike atmosphere that this cantata exudes.

Dvořák’s Symphony in D major, composed in just seven weeks at the turn of summer and autumn in 1880, is the sixth of his nine symphonies. For a long time, however, it was known as the “First,” as it was the first of his symphonies to be published in print. Although it is sometimes overshadowed in concert halls by his final three symphonies—often regarded as the pinnacle of his symphonic output—this work already stands as a remarkably accomplished and distinctive contribution to the symphonic repertoire. In it, Dvořák fully developed his gift for melody, his sense of orchestral color, and his ability to blend classical form with the idiom of Czech music.

The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava. A recording of the concert will also be broadcast on the Czech Radio D-dur programme every Wednesday.

We reserve the right to change the programme performers.
