Programme

The programme offers a vibrant cross-section of European music from the Baroque to the 20th century. It opens with Bach’s renowned C-major Suite for solo cello, followed by the Romantic flair of Saint-Saëns’ Allegro appassionato and a contemporary work by Alina Boyko inspired by Ukrainian folk music. Tchaikovsky’s lyrical Valse sentimentale is complemented by Vivaldi’s E-minor Sonata with its striking contrasts. A touch of Spanish colour comes with de Falla’s Suite populaire espagnole, and the evening concludes with Schubert’s gently melancholic A-minor Sonata.
