How does empathy travel beyond the edges of the human body, into materials, sounds, and environments? And what tension unfolds in the space between bodies? This performance is as a choreography of layers, resonances, and distributed attention within Sahej Rahal’s exhibition Beyond the City of Time. In dialogue with Rahal’s morphing biomes – swarming tentacles, insect-like particles, and touch-responsive meshes – the performance evolves as a network of relations in constant communication between the human and more-than-human, animate and inanimate, present and imagined. Listening with the skin, negotiating boundaries, and experiencing the body as porous, the performers navigate the paradox of touch: even in its absence, it remains the ground of perception.
