P2 / Concertino Praga 60 years ⬩ Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of the prestigious Concertino Praga competition with an evening of virtuosity and distinguished musical figures. Under the baton of Robert Kružík, Bach’s Double Concerto in D minor will be performed by Dmitry Sitkovetsky and Václav Hudeček; Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 by Jan Čmejla together with Filippo Lombardi; Glière’s Horn Concerto by Radek Baborák; and Saint-Saëns’s Étude in the Form of a Waltz, performed by the violinist Daniel Matejča.

Robert Kružík is one of the prominent figures of the younger generation of Czech conductors. He is Chief Conductor of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic and works with the Janáček Opera Orchestra of the National Theatre Brno. He is a recipient of the Jiří Bělohlávek Award (2020) and the Sir Charles Mackerras Award (2025).

Dmitry Sitkovetsky studied at the Moscow Conservatory under David Oistrakh and performs with leading orchestras across Europe, the United States, and Asia. He is the founder of the chamber orchestra New European Strings. Václav Hudeček made his debut at the age of fifteen with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has long been engaged in pedagogical work through the Václav Hudeček Academy.

Radek Baborák is an internationally acclaimed horn player and conductor, a laureate of the Concertino Praga, Prague Spring, and ARD competitions. He has served as principal horn of the Czech Philharmonic, the Munich Philharmonic, the Bamberg Symphony, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

Daniel Matejča won Eurovision Young Musicians 2022 and is a laureate of numerous competitions, including Concertino Praga. For the Supraphon label, he has recorded Ysaÿe’s sonatas, and together with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under Tomáš Netopil he recorded an album featuring concertos by Shostakovich and Prokofiev.

Pianist Jan Čmejla is a laureate of numerous competitions, including Concertino Praga, and performs both as a soloist and a chamber musician.

Trumpeter Filippo Lombardi studied in Bolzano and Vienna and is a laureate of the Concertino Praga and Aeolus competitions. He has also performed at Prague’s Rudolfinum with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
