Susanna ⬩ Collegium 1704

The oratorio Susanna belongs among the culminating works of the final years of Georg Friedrich Handel’s life. This drama of Susanna’s false accusation from 1749 — in which Handel also employed strikingly dramatic features drawn from opera — was evidently a work the composer himself held in high regard, as he arranged for it to be performed again shortly before his death in 1759.
